François Sochard

François Sochard was born in 1979 and gave his inaugural solo performance at the age of eleven. He subsequently enrolled in the Cremona Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of the Italian master Salvatore Accardo. In 1995, he undertook studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he was awarded first prizes in violin (Gérard Poulet’s class) and chamber music (Christian Ivaldi’s class). 

He subsequently obtained his advanced diploma from the same institution in 1999, before pursuing further studies with Pierre Amoyal at the Lausanne Conservatoire. He was awarded a virtuosity diploma and the Max Jost Prize in 2002. 

In the same year, François Sochard recorded his inaugural CD, which was broadcast live on Radio France. 

He has been the recipient of numerous international accolades, including the Sarasate Competition in Spain and the Lipizer Competition in Italy. Additionally, he has been the beneficiary of numerous awards and grants from various foundations. He has been invited to perform in Europe, Asia, South America, and the United States, and has performed on several occasions in Japan with the Gabriel Quartet. 

Since 2006, François Sochard has served as concertmaster of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne. Additionally, he provides assistance to Renaud Capuçon in the violin class at the HEMU (Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne). 

His instrument of choice is a 1728 Carlo Tononi violin.
