Known to large audiences from her ‘Victoires de la Musique classique’ nominations in 2004 and 2005 as well as from her recording output, Marina Chiche is a musician with boundless curiosity and a passionate temperament. Her international violin career has led her to perform in the most prestigious halls as a soloist with orchestra, in recital and in chamber music.
Originally from Marseille, Marina received four brilliant first prizes at the Paris Conservatory before continuing her studies in Vienna, Munich and Berlin. Her major influences include Jean Ter-Merguerian in Marseille, Ana Chumachenco in Munich, Pierre-Laurent Aimard as well as György Kurtág in Paris and Ferenc Rados in Budapest.
Beyond her work as a violinist and pedagogue, Marina seeks out a broader consideration of music in general, which reflects the versatility of her training. She holds a degree in German literature, a Masters in musicology, a Masters in Early Music and a Doctorate of fine arts.
Transmitting music in all its forms is dear to Marina. She publishes a blog that goes behind the scenes of a professional musician’s life, produces the show Mon cœur est un violon (My Heart Is a Violin) on France Musique, writes articles for the culture magazine Transfuge and gives conferences at the university Sciences Po in Paris on the subject of music and politics in the 20th century.
