Pianist, chamber music musician, teacher and improviser, Michaël Ertzscheid studied in several conservatories (Toulouse, Paris, Boulogne, the CNSM or Conservatoire national supérieur de musique of Paris). Curious and insatiable, he took advantage of his 10 years of studies to acquire the richest possible musical background, meeting leading pedagogues (such as M.P. Siruguet, H. Cartier-Bresson, T. Escaich, A. Louvier, P.L. Aimard…) and reaping first prizes in piano, analysis, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint, fugue, improvisation… Simultaneously, he attended numerous master classes and benefited from the advice of famous musicians (Arie Vardi, Leon Fleisher, Jean-François Heisser). He won the European Music Competition for Youth, the Yamaha Competition and a scholarship from the SACEM.

His constant passion for deciphering, accompaniment and the symphonic repertoire allowed him to obtain the first prize in the exacting class of Jean Koerner at the CNSM of Paris. This memorable encounter led him to work under the direction of Pierre Boulez, Kazushi Ōno, John Axelrod, Christoph Eschenbach, Péter Eötvös or François-Xavier Roth.

As a musician with a passion for teaching, sharing is at the heart of his activity. With a piano degree, he presently teaches piano at the Pôle supérieur d’enseignement artistique Paris in Boulogne-Billancourt and at the Regional conservatory of Boulogne-Billancourt. He also teaches didactic piano at the CNSM of Paris.
